Happy Fried Egg - free knitting pattern (knitted round)


The pattern is for free. Happy Fried Egg would be a great gift for your kids or grandkids or just something to knit in between bigger projects :o). It is knitted on double pointed needles. It knits up quickly and is a great way to use up small amounts of yarn.

What you need to make:
MATERIALS:
Needles size 2 (2.75mm)
Leftovers from different projects in DK weight yarn or worsted weight yarn in white and yellow.

White:
Cast on 8 stitches using white yarn. Distribute among 4 needles and join.
Rnd 1: K
Rnd 2: (K1, M1) x 8 (16 sts)
Rnd 3: K
Rnd 4: (K2, M1) x 8 ( 24 sts)
Rnd 5: K
Rnd 6: (K3, M1) x 8 (32 sts)
Rnd 7: K
Rnd 8: (K4, M1) x 8 (40 sts)
Rnd 9: K
Rnd 10: (K5, M1) x 8 (48 sts)
Rnd 11: K
Rnd 12: (K6, M1) x 8 (56 sts)
Rnd 13: K
Rnd 14: (K7, M1) x 8 (64 sts)
Rnd 15: K
Rnd 16: (K8, M1) x 8 (72 sts)
Rnds 17 - 18: K (2 rounds)
Rnd 19: (K 2 tog, YO) to end ( 72 sts)
Rnds 20 -21: K (2 rounds )
Rnd 22: (K7, K2 tog) x 8 ( 64 sts)
Rnd 23: K
Rnd 24: (K6, K2 tog) x 8 ( 56 sts)
Rnd 25: K
Rnd 26: (K5, K2 tog) x 8 ( 48 sts)
Rnd 27: K
Rnd 28: (K4, K2 tog) x 8 ( 40 sts)
Rnd 29: K
Rnd 30: (K3, K2 tog) x 8 ( 32 sts)
Rnd 31: K
Rnd 32: (K2, K2 tog) x 8 ( 24 sts)
Rnd 33: K
Rnd 34: (K1, K2 tog) x 8 ( 16 sts)
Rnd 35: K
Rnd 36: K2 tog x 8 (8 sts)
Rnd 37: K
Cut yarn. Thread it through sts left on knitting needles, pull to gather tightly, then fasten off. Gather up on cast on sts tightly and fasten off. Fold the piece making a flat circle with a fancy edging. Don’t stuff white.

Yolk
Cast on 36 stitches using yellow yarn. Distribute among 4 needles and join.
Rnds 1 - 8: K (8 rounds)
Rnd 9: (K4, K2 tog) x 6 ( 30 sts)
Rnd 10:
Rnd 11: (K3, K2 tog) x 6 ( 24 sts)
Rnd 12: K all
Rnd 13: (K1, K2 tog) x 8 ( 16 sts)
Rnd 14: K all
Rnd 15: K 2tog to end ( 8 sts)
Cut yarn. Thread it through sts left on knitting needles, pull to gather tightly, then fasten off.

Make up:

Stuff yolk with fiberfill lightly then sew it to the center of white using yarn end left when casting on. Use black yarn to sew eyes and egg’s smile.
